Who this policy covers

Stardust Jump is a small bespoke lingerie atelier at 3-4-1 Banseichokanaya in Yonezawa, Yamagata. This policy explains what we do with the personal information that reaches us through this website and through the commission work that may follow it: the measurement appointment, the fittings and the dispatch of a finished piece. We handle that information in line with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, usually called the APPI. The legal name and representative of the operator are disclosed on request, using the contact details at the foot of this page.

What reaches us

Writing to us through the form gives us your name, your email address, the message you type and, if you choose to add it, a telephone number. Nothing else is read from your device when you press send.

If an enquiry turns into a commission, we also record what the work needs: twelve body measurements, notes on posture or asymmetry, your choice of fabric and silhouette, a delivery address and a phone number for the courier, and for a bridal set the photographs of the dress that you send us.

Health-related details

Some clients tell us about surgery, skin sensitivity or an allergy because it changes how a piece has to be built, for example a bra without underwire. That is information needing special care under the APPI. We ask for it only when it affects construction, we use it for nothing else, and we take it only with your clear consent, which a message to us about the matter counts as. You can ask us to delete it at any point.

Why we use it

We use what you send to answer your questions, to quote a price, to book the measurement appointment and the toile fitting, to cut and sew the piece, to ship it and to keep the paperwork a sale requires. If you have commissioned from us before, we use the measurement file to cut a later piece to the same pattern.

We do not sell client details, we do not build profiles, and we do not send newsletters or promotional mail. Your address is used for the matter you wrote to us about.

Who else sees it

An enquiry travels by email, so your mail provider and ours handle it in transit. A delivery address and phone number go to the courier carrying your parcel. If you pay by bank transfer, your bank shows us the name and account details attached to the payment. If you write to us from outside Japan, your message passes through mail servers abroad on its way, and we reply to the address you wrote from.

We give your information to no one else, except where a law or a court order requires it.

How long we keep it

An enquiry that does not lead to a commission is deleted eighteen months after the last message in the thread. The records of a completed commission, meaning the measurements, the fabric choices and the order paperwork, are kept so that a later piece can be cut to the same pattern; ask us and we delete the measurement file. Invoices and bank records are kept for as long as Japanese tax law requires, and for no longer than that.

Keeping it safe

Messages sit in the atelier's mailbox. Measurement sheets are kept in the studio, on paper or in files on devices used only by the atelier. We keep the number of people who can open them small and we do not copy client files to shared or public online services. No system is perfectly secure; if we find a leak that affects you, we will tell you and, where the law requires it, report it to the Personal Information Protection Commission.

Your rights

Under the APPI you may ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, to stop using it or to delete it. Write to the email address below from the address you used with us, so we can recognise you. We may ask one or two questions to confirm it is you, and we answer in writing. We do not charge for ordinary requests of this kind.

Younger visitors

The site is written for adults. If someone under eighteen would like a piece made, we ask that a parent or guardian write to us and take part in the measurement appointment.

Changes to this policy

If the way we handle information changes, for example if we add an online booking tool, we update this page before the change takes effect. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
